Art Basel 2019 in photos

Art Basel is one of the most famous and expensive art events in the art world. This year the best galleries from 34 countries presented the works of about 4000 artists from XX-XXI century. The art fair took place from June 13-16, but on Tuesday and Wednesday one could visit this event only by a special invitation for VIP guests. Specifically on the first day and even in the first few hours the most expensive sales for the whole duration of the fair took place (more than a million dollars for a work of art). Starting on Thursday the art fair opens for a wide range of visitors.

Fabian Gatermann (1984) lives and works in Munich. He studied art, communications history, design and engineering in Vienna, Koln and Brazil. As a part of exhibition “Light as a phenomenon” the artist explores interplay of light, color, surface and form. In his search Gatermann looks into light using various approaches, works with material and non-material properties to make it visible for the viewers.

How did the art of this almost unknown and for some time already inactive self-proclaimed ‘brotherhood’ from St. Petersburg come to the Zurich Exhibition Hall? And why does it say on the cover of the museum brochure in large letters printed in Russian “go to hell, art lovers”?
