Art Basel 2018 in photos

Art Basel is one of the most famous and expensive art events in the art world. This year the best galleries from 35 countries presented the works of about 4000 artists from XX-XXI century. The art fair took place from June 12-17, but on Tuesday and Wednesday one could visit this event only by a special invitation for VIP guests. Specifically on the first day and even in the first few hours the most expensive sales for the whole duration of the fair took place (more than a million dollars for a work of art). Starting on Thursday the art fair opens for a wide range of visitors.

According to the existing tradition, the first floor is distinctive with the works of museum level, high prices and famous artists’ names, such as Joan Miro and Pablo Picasso. In addition, one can find  galleries exhibiting modernism and contemporary art. It is in these galleries that one can see the works of Ai Weiwei, Jeff Koons and Damien Hirst.

Section ‘Unlimited’ is intended for large-scale installations, performance art and video projects. This year galleries have shown 72 artworks that were created specifically for the fair.
